Wow. If you want to get the feel of what the Dead sounded like back in the day (i.e. Winterland, in the 70s), THIS is the band. No contest. Better than any post-Jerry iteration of the band, not even close. I speak as an excellent guitarist/bassist who plays like Jerry and Phil (Bobby's playing is beyond me 😀).

I worked “security” at All Good that year, my first shift was checking cars for drugs hahahaha. I was tripping while doing it (just following everyone else’s lead, I had just graduated high school) and letting everyone go and telling them “alright you’re all good!!!” I worked 8am- 8pm every day, so I got to catch this set :) My favorite from the 08’ fest was Brazilian Girls.

My birthday ! ! !

One of my favorite DSO shows that I have seen. ever since Jeff replaced John I have loved them even more. Always hope for an older show and on this day my wish was granted. Great attention to detail. I preferred to see them over Dead and company and every iteration of the dead there ever was. Jeff blows Mayer away! Jeff should have been the one playing for the dead's 50th. Anyway for all of you who need a fix, make sure to go out of your way to see these guys.

Is it me or does his voice sound closer to jerry then it did when he started with DSO. Jeff imo does the best 70s Jerry (the hardest style to do) then anyone.. it's so fucking good.

Looking back, I think this night/show changed the trajectory and course of my incarnation more than any other, especially for someone like me, too young to have seen Jerry in this incarnation. This was the night I got on the bus, and in the intervening years since, I’ve heard from many folks that I was not the only one with that story from this night. Many of us youngins were blessed to partake of that great, ancient ritual on this night: a true rite of passage occurred.
